Pope Misleads in Letter Parents Voting with their Feet

I can certainly understand why Mr. Pope is defensive, however, considering how badly he, Valerie Gilman, and Amy Beth Healey failed the students and teachers of Gloucester during the time that they were on the School Committee. During their tenure, we lost nearly 800 students to other districts and private schools; they let a valuable city asset in Fuller School rot away that the city is now forced to sell; and this year, our superintendent laid off seven teachers but hired an additional assistant superintendent at approximately $125,000 per year. For that salary, teachers could have been retained.
